A break for Elle

Well for the last couple of days my son Zach has been with his dad, but of course I have had my two little nephews and my niece.  We thought it would be a one night spend the night and play kind of thing and when my sister and her husband came down to get the kids it turned into a whole day of play and then dinner and then somehow all the kids ended up staying with me again!  The guys went to play poker for the afternoon which turned into more like all stinking day, but that was ok because it gave me a lot of time to spend with my kid sister which I don't get to do as much as I would like to. While she was here she told me about a beautiful book that she would like to write and she even asked if I would help her with it. : ) Now the fun part is we are trying to talk about how she would like to have things go in her first book and I was bouncing ideas off of her for my next three books in the series I've been writing with three little boys and a little girl running around acting like little monkeys and somehow her oldest son got all involved in our conversation. We will just say that I now know my series is 9 year old boy approved!! Yay since that is exactly the age group I have been trying to write for. She also agreed with Chad and thinks I should go ahead and self publish my first two books but while I am trying to do that I should go ahead and put them on amazon for e-readers. So..... I guess I will be trying to figure that one out and I will be sure to update when you should start looking for "The Great Turkey Run." It seems to cost a lot of money for a new writer to get their books published so you guys help me out and shop at the store www.therightsideofthebed.com

(My sister Desiree, her husband Matt and the three kids)

We finally got the guys to come home and Zach made it home so we decided to take our dinner over to the park and grill out. The kids had a great time playing on the playground while the grown ups cooked and after dinner Chad and Matt went looking for a geo (I'll explain that later if you don't know what geo catching is) It got dark on us so we headed back to the house and all the kids stayed over again and my sister and her husband got to have a kid free night again ~ Lucky devils.  Which was really an good thing because Chad was home that night so he got to do the put the kids to bed thing and they listen to him so much better than they do me. I'm the push over and I know it.

This is what a 3 year old does when she wants your attention.

So after a fun filled day we all crashed out, and the next morning I get a phone call from my sister saying she has a ton of office work to do and can Matt pick up the kids after lunch?? And because I'm the best big sister/ Aunt ever I said ok. Abby and I got up and made Uncle Chad some coffee and she woke him up with the sweetest kiss on his head and I had a cup of coffee in hand. Yeah he is a lucky guy too. So Matt showed up later and TOOK ALL THE KIDS WITH HIM!!!  YAY!!! So then Chad and I were lucky devils and got to have an evening at home without any kids until he had to go to work (third shift week sucks.) But it meant I got to have the whole house to myself all night and it was very quiet which I like more than anything.

 This is what the morning after looks like...... the morning after 3rd shift that is.

Poor guy was so tired, too bad it didn't last long. The puppy and kitten decided he looked like a trampoline and jumped all over him and woke him up so they could snuggle.  But it is still very quiet in the house since none of the boys are here right now. ( this mama is starting to miss them all)

OK so I promised I would give you guys some recipes on this blog somewhere. Since we have spent the last few days cooking for a bunch of children and you know there are at least a few picky eaters in the bunch I'm going to give you a great trick to get them to eat a pork chop. As the adults we like the pork chops, but for some reason like three of the kids don't think they eat a pork chop so what I did was put all the chops in a bowl and pour in some dales sauce, some Worcestershire sauce and then sprinkle on garlic powder and onion powder. Let it sit for about half an hour, longer is ok but give it some time to get into the meat, and then we threw it on the grill. Kids thought they were eating a steak and actually came back for seconds!!! For me that is a big score because my sweet Abby doesn't eat anything if its not a grape, a hot dog, a chip or candy and gummies.  Anyways give it a try with your picky eater and see if they like it too. What's the worse that can happen you have to microwave a hot dog real quick and you get to eat a yummy pork chop?

A few fun filled days.....

OK so in my earlier post I mentioned that one of the things my guy and I have been through is having an absent father show back up in the picture after not really being around pretty much my son's whole life. I don't think I will go into a great detail about the whole situation, but I will just say that he had a problem, went to jail a few times, and then met a  girl who will kill him if he doesn't keep himself in line and has really turned his whole life around which is wonderful for my son Zach. So this weekend he was supposed to come get Zach for a visit when I get a phone call from his new wife that his car has broken down and can she come get Zach instead? To which I agree without hesitation because she really is the best step mom I could ever ask for when it comes to my son, and that is saying a lot! It does help that I have known this girl since she was 4 years old and her sister was my best friend for a bunch of years. Anyways she comes to get my son Zach and brings her little man with her and their new baby ( Zach's half sister) which of course I sit around holding for over an hour while we girls chat and have a great time. I have to say this little baby looks exactly like my Zach did as a baby except in pink. I really am thankful to have someone taking care of my son with his father that I can trust and have a good relationship with because Chad's ex wife would NEVER be ok enough with me to sit and speak in any manner below a screech. Unlike her I understand it is important to actually be nice to the other woman in your sons life. I know she loves my son just like I do in fact this girl is so sweet she called today while she was out getting herself some jeans to ask what size my Zach wears so she could grab him a couple pairs too since she found a great sale. I tell my children, my step children and even my son's step and half siblings that you can't have too much family and you can't have too many people who love you.

Speaking of family the rest of my family is with me today. My sister (who you have already heard a little about and I'm sure will continue to hear about) called me today and put my 3 year old niece on the phone who wants to know if she can spend the night tonight. Of course if the baby gets to come then the boys want to come too. So instead of the quiet evening at home I had planned for just me and my little guy Jay, it's not our weekend to have Luke, Bryce, and Kaleb, while Chad is at work I now have my 2 nephews, my niece and my boy.

That sweet little puppy I posted about last time well she caused some trouble today for us. My niece brought her stuffed dragon Stuffy, from Doc McStuffins, with her which Alice decided she liked and ran off with. The boys came to the rescue and tried to wrestle Stuffy away from Alice and sadly some of the stitches in his butt came loose. I was a little worried that my girl would freak out because he is her new favorite toy ever! But instead of getting upset we played Doc McStuffins, which I just happened to get to be and she was the hippo nurse who kept Lamby calm while we stitched Stuffy up. I really enjoyed playing with her especially since it has been so long since I had a little one in the house.

The last couple days have made me really want a baby girl! My Chad would be more than happy to have another baby, but OMG it might be another BOY!!!!! I guess it wouldn't be too bad since I already know what to do with them lol, but oh would I love a girl finally. I would be one of those moms that played dress up, and had tea parties, and everything would have to be princess and pink and fluffy. And since Chad is a wonderful daddy he would play too! And heaven forbid the girl ever wanted to go on a date, could you imagine coming to the front door to pick up your date and being met by 5 BIG brothers?!

Alice

Hey everyone ready for a laugh? Now remember there is no way I could make this up. We have a small Boston Terrier named Alice. We also have a cat that is about a month older than Alice so they are actually almost exactly the same size right now. Alice is a little confused on about her roll in the house however, she seems to think that she is the cat and that Delilah (who really is the cat) is supposed to be her life long friend slash chew toy. Which is usually the cutest thing you have ever seen, until a few days ago when I watched Alice chase Delilah through the living room into the kitchen and just as the kitty jumped up on the table that the birds cage sits on super puppy grabs her by the tail and manages to get a mouth full of fur for her trouble. Alice proudly strutted right back through the living room and brought it to me to see what a good girl she was for catching that naughty kitty cat.

                                                                   (Alice minus the cat hair)

Yesterday she decides that I need help with the chores namely loading the dishwasher. So while I am washing the dishes and trying to put them in the top drawer she is standing on the open door licking all the little drops of water up. I had to text that picture to my best friend because honey that was super cute.  Probably a habit we need to stop before it gets started and she gets any heavier, if I would like to keep using my dishwasher that is.

So today we wake up and did the usual outside for a quick potty, chase the cat, bark at nothing, go see if the kids are awake yet, and then jump in the bed and lick daddy in the face Alice decides that when daddy goes to get in the shower that she needs one too. I kid you not the puppy climbed right into the shower with him and the first thought I have is" OMG I need a picture of this for my blog! " Followed quickly by realizing Chad is naked in that shower too and the door is glass.......  Maybe he wouldn't be upset : )  So like any good doggie daddy would he shampooed her right up and let her rinse off which she loved, which also means no more doggie mommy wrestling the puppy into the bath tub and soaking myself and the whole bathroom in the process. ~ Score!

She does have one other bad trick up her little sleeves. Like I said in my last post we run an online adult toy store, www.therightsideofthebed.com, and yes we have our own little stash which Alice will very happily drag out and show all the company she can manage. I'm not sure is she is being a perv or if she just likes to fetch at the most inopportune times. All in all though she is great and has brought some of the biggest smiles to everyone's face especially when we really need it the most. So my suggestion for anyone looking to get a puppy if you want one with lots of energy that wants to love you all the time check out a Boston Terrier. They aren't too big, they aren't to small and for us anyways she is just right!

~~~And of course as I type this she decides to do some normal Alice stuff. Mr. Bird (a 20 year old dove) is out of his home getting some exercise and Alice runs up to check him out just to have him chase her back out of the kitchen. Oh my.... the pets around here are so confused. Welcome to Elle's world!
Let's get started
Hello world of blogging. First of all let me start with a few things about myself and my family. I am a sassy, southern, and sometimes potty mouthed mother of two wonderful boys and a step mom to three more wonderful boys.  I have the best man in the world, Chad, and he is all mine and you guys can't have him. He is the best dad and step dad ever and we are so lucky to have him. Chad and I  have been together a little over a year now and if you can go through it I'm pretty sure we have been there. From a crazy ex wife, to starting our own business, writing my first and second children's books, raising these silly boys, dealing with an absent father showing back up in the picture, getting engaged, trying to plan a wedding, and just the normal day to day life this has been an amazing roller coaster ride that I wouldn't trade for anything.
Ok now that that is out of the way if you decide you want to follow or read my blog it will most likely be full of random every day things about kids, crafts, food, fun, stress that I need to get rid of somewhere  and s-e-x. Lets face it we all do it and like I said above my guy and I started our own business that just happens to be an adult novelty store. If you are 18 or older here is a link to the web page www.therightsideofthebed.com cute name huh?  We try to carry a little of it all from the plain vanilla to the whole shebang with rocky road and whip cream with a cherry on top. (side note if you like something on the page remember that all our sales are private and discreet.) We actually decided to get into this business because face it sex sells no matter what and after a rather uncomfortable trip to an adult toy store with the creepy guy standing around looking over our shoulders at anything we even showed a hint of interest towards even as a joke, and asking 500 times "You guys need any help?" we left with absolutely nothing other than the creeps and decided from now on we were shopping online. We went home and started shopping at that really popular online store, you know the one with the names from the bible Hint Hint. We found some pretty cool stuff and were about to put in an order, but everything is so dang expensive that we wanted to keep shopping around and compare some prices.  Then WHAM it hit us, if we are going to shop online for this kind of thing then duh most of the rest of the world probably feels close to the same, and if we were unhappy with how much it all cost other people probably were too. After some research we found out that it is not hard to get into that business and that there were probably a million little stores you never ever heard of out there.
We checked some things out and found out pricing was pretty much the same all around..... so we opened our store with the intention of having the lowest prices out there. After doing extensive research I'm proud to say that for the most part I haven't found anyone that can beat our prices and if I do then I go in and see if we can lower our price that much more. We are also great about giving out discount codes to take that much more off because everyone should get to play the way they like to and it shouldn't cost you as much as your rent!!
Ok lets see.......  About the boys, they are 13 (Yikes!) 11, 11, (no they aren't twins) 10 and 7. Three of them are going to be in middle school this year and the two youngest are terrorizing the elementary school still. We are a sports kind of family playing football, basketball, and baseball for school and of course just for fun too. Chad and I actually met each other because of  sports. He was the head coach of his sons baseball team (the baby) which just happened to be the same team my two little nephews played on. One thing leads to another and the coach and aunt are moving in together and getting on with having a great life together.
My sister gives me a call a few days ago and wants me to start training to run a 5K marathon with her. (did I mention I am 31 and not in the best shape ever?)  So after some begging and sweet talking I agree to start working on this ridiculous endeavor with her. My guy, Mr. Wonderful, is super supportive and the first morning I want to get up and go walking he comes along, and then again the second morning, by the third morning not only am I tired of this junk its all wet and nasty and raining and you better believe I did NOT go outside for that, nope nope nope. So Mr. Wonderful comes home from work last night (since this is his second shift week) with the best birthday present ever, a mp3 player that also picks up radio stations for when I go walking! : ) Way to keep me motivated baby. So this morning I got up and went walking again hee hee hee.  And while I love being able to listen to my favorite early morning radio show, the walking I don't have such strong positive feelings about, but I need to keep doing it so we will see how that goes.........
